Calligra Packages for Windows Released

KO GmbH has released the first version of the Calligra Suite for Windows. The package is labeled as "highly experimental" and "not yet suitable for daily use".  It is aimed at people who want to try to run Calligra applications on Windows and are willing to report bugs so that stable builds of can be packaged when Calligra 2.4 is released early next year. Calligra Suite 2.4 Beta 5

The Calligra team has decided to release a fifth beta version of the Calligra Suite. There were originally going to be three beta versions followed by one or more release candidates. However in the last week the team has discovered a number of serious bugs, particularly in the area of style handling and style inheritance. The release candidates will therefore be delayed and there will likely also be further beta version before the first release candidate. Read More

Beta 3 Packaging Updates

Since releasing Calligra 2.4, beta 3 we've received three updates from packagers!

First came Andreas Huettel for Gentoo. He says:

I've just committed the ebuild for Calligra 2.4 beta 3, i.e. in Gentoo app-office/calligra-2.3.83, to the portage tree. If all goes well this is going to be the last beta version before Calligra 2.4

Calligra provides the Engine for Nokias Harmattan Office

Mobile giant Nokia has just released the Linux based N9 model. Among the applications that are bundled with the smartphone the user will find the office application Harmattan Office.

Harmattan Office is a document viewer based on the Calligra Office Engine which is part of the open-source Calligra Suite. This application provides an advanced viewer for documents in the OpenDocument Format, binary Microsoft Office documents, and Microsoft OOXML documents, as well as PDF.

Mini sprint about anchoring and text run around

Following the previous successful mini sprints yet another is about to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark Sunday 4th to Wednesday 7th.

A mini sprint consists of only 2-3 people intensely focusing on a very specific problem. Previously the textdocument tables were implement with sponsoring of KO GmbH, and presentation animation with sponsoring of KDE e.V. This time the topic is the anchoring of objects to a specific point in text and the text run around objects.
